I tried on KoTH last night. No real difference between recording and not recording (9fps v 11fps just ain't that much of a thing :( ). (Also, it's just a buttonpush away).
I think if I want 1900x1080@60fps I need a new i7 rig :D
But with some more tweaks this morning I eeked out another few fps to get me up to 15fps...

...and then I tried a lower resolution again...

...and got 1280x720@15fps (while recording and with headtracking running). Ah, heyor.

Heh, I can get 17.6fps if I just record uncompressed. Hey, 3.5Gb per 4 minutes recording, what could go wrong?
But...
...hey, 18.3 fps if I use the lagarith codec.... but 1.4Gb for 4 minutes recording.

....wait a minute, we play for 3 hours, that works out at 75Gb conservatively, my hard drive has 324Gb free and something like handbrake (or hell, just kdenlive) can re-encode down to sane size levels...

...I think that this might actually work...

(remember 15fps in YAAB translates to 50-60fps when flying in singleplayer... so 18fps now is giving me... 40fps when playing MH9 pilot in singleplayer (the MH9 missions scenario thing where you fly about in an MH9?)

30fps +/- 4fps, the whole night long tonight.

It was weird. Stuff was, like, moving. Smoothly. Completely threw me. My R400 was almost completely useless...

Sparks, what is that weird echo when people speak in your videos?
''I am not going against tanks'' - Tryteyker, MAT gunner.
''Downboated so much, it's an u-boat now.'' - Boberro.
''Sorry, I meant hon hon hon baguette baguette Eiffel Tower'' - Mabbott

I don't know for certain yet. I thought it was the equaliser APO on the mic line, but I'd pulled that last sunday so that's not it. I'm worried it might be positive feedback from the headphones to the mic because it only shows up above a certain volume level; positive feedback is a PITA to deal with. It's definitely an artifact of the recording though, it's not perceptible at all when I'm playing.

Acoustic echo cancellation may help though it's a cure, not a prevention.

Figured it out eventually. It wasn't poor physical isolation of the mic, or the equaliser APO; it was the razer sound drivers. Disable those, problem goes away. Grrr.
