A cozy gathering of the hardcore elite tonight, what we lacked in numbers we made up for in sheer gumption! And gullies.

Gullymption.

Goat Ridge - ASL/CO

I had one full squad plus MMG and MAT at my disposal to clear a ridge on Stratis. Gathering us up nice and close together, we took a stroll north along the beach, engaging the occasional patrol but otherwise passing unimpeded up to goat ridge. Everyone covered their sectors nicely, called out contacts and dealt with them effectively, as well as some first-class MAT-work from.. oh gosh... dancemoox I think! Or was it Danny. Anyway, one of the D-scots.

As we went uphill, things went downhill. We encountered a bunker that did for me and most of the squad; after a scuffle I think four were left, including Satire(?), and they made a valiant advance that was soon wiped out in a glorious fashion.

Random Engagements: Red vs Blue edition - AR

We faced off at the brand new old and abandoned Ghost Hotel (spoooky!), looks hella neat! We teleported in at the south I think and moved into the little villas leading up to the hotel. After a quiet advance we suddenly made contact, and I fired off an AR clip and a half into the building across the road, not managing to kill the hardy Ardyvee though. I got schwacked, and my FT (led by Satire?) carried on towards the pool. Soon, almost everyone was wiped out save for Dannei and 2/3 BLUFOR; Dannei ninjad his way around the pool and took them all out, even if the confrontation with Head did come down to them both edging around a wall and shooting eachother dead!

Thorn - A3 FTL

Attacking the small town of Kore from the south, the fireteams got spread out for a broad assault. We got the east flank, spotting a very fit enemy patrol sprinting about on the hill beyond the compound that was our initial target. I moved us closer as they ran off, setting us up in, in retrospect, a not-great firing position that let us take them all out at the cost of one man.

We moved in to clear the compound but it was clearly occupied, and we soon got whittled down to me and Head. He took the ground floor and I took the top floor, and Killed a few bad dudes but got mown down as well. He prayed over my body and God rewarded him with my grenade launcher, which he took a-charging with him out onto the rolling soldier-filled hills to the west, where he met his doom.

Bay II - A1 AR, Head FTL

Fer turned up to turn the sneakiness up to maximum, picking out the ATC from the AO to claim as our prize. We snuck and we snuck, inching our way in a tense and atmospheric fashion through the reeds of a gully until we spotted a stationary Ifrit and a few footsoldiers.

Patient like the spider, Fer maneuvered us around the roadblock so that we could all attack from different directions, effectively neutralising it and carryiong on past the road towards the ATC. A1 took point and moved in to the tower, but reinforcements started moving in from across the airfield and took me out. Head and the other survivor (Tanman24?) kicked ass until the tower was clear, occupied it and defended it from incoming troops as the rest of the squad moved up.

With the objective taken, Fer laid down a smoke barrier towards the gully and marshalled an orderly retreat to the safety of the reeds, whereupon there was much rejoicing and firing guns in the air.

Exothermic Reaction - Attackfor ASL/CO

Desiring to steal all the SCIENCE of our opponents, we invaded their SCIENCE BASE to kill them all.. oh yeah, and blow some stuff up. With Fer generously donating a fireteam to us, we at least had the numbers on our side. Becoming enamoured of reeds and their concealing embrace I scouted out two reedy and treeish approaches, one along a ditch/gully to the north, one a long grove at the south. Meanwhile, me and the medic came in from the docks in the west.

Sneaking sneakily, we closed in, getting spooked by eachother but not much else. It soon became clear that Fer had decided on a last-ditch attempt to use the lab equipment in the SCIENCE DOME to transform his trusting minions into radiation/chemical/genetics-enriched supersoldiers, and/or set up a bristling defense at the entrances. Drawing up my forces outside, we in a coordinated fashion flung ope the gates, tossed in grenades, crossed our fingers and charged in.

I took out one fellow behind a Mysterious Science Container, then chucked a nade into another where a boisterous AR was firing from, then pinned him in with a few shots until he came flying out via explosion. Things quieted down, until I made my way round to check the central building, getting shot in the face for my trouble though the stubborn survivor was soon deprived of his life.

In Denial - FTL?

Another day, another gullysneak. This one ended rather quickly as we got bushwhacked by a full enemy squad that was simply too numerous for us to deal with. Blammo!

Headhunters - SL

For the afterparty we decided to have a go at one of the BIS missions, Headhunters on Stratis (COOP 7). With a Razor Team-like assortment of specialists, albeit lacking map markers for ourselves, we set out into the night to reach the lighthouse, scout at the enemy-filled bases ahead and line up, again in an admittedly somewhat poor base of fire position to take out the ones near us. We soon got whittled down to two survivors, Homercleese and stff, who put up a stiff fight before bidding adieu. Despite the lack of amenities, this mission felt like it had potential if it was ported to F3!

Twas I, I stayed alive long enough to make two Marids go booomboom and force a de-crew on some other future space vehicle in the distance. After that I reverted to 'everyman a rifleman' and was promptly shot by the angry ninja population inside the bunker..

I then stuck around for RE and explored the new hotel building with Dabbo whilst communicating with my transport apprentice up in orbit.. Once the shooting kicked off I swung around to the contact side and blasted away at four people, who amusingly decided to stand still and return fire at me. With them killed by my fire or by Dabbo's I went prone and reloaded. Looking behind me briefly I saw a grenade land. It seems I'm rather sluggish getting up of the ground and running. I somehow survived with only slight jam damage. I found Dabbo dead in the corridor and fired along the empty hallway towards Wrathz who'd killed him. I then managed to get entangled on Dabbo and was unable to get up quickly when another grenade was thrown at me..

After that I departed for the land of sleep for I was a tired moon :science101:
ramming speed!

Dabbo was my kill, thank you very much 8-) I was part of the fire team you opened up on in the street. I managed to scramble behind a wall, exchanged some bullets with Dabbo. When I tried to retreat further I realised I'd either been hit or developed arthritis so I went prone and fired a few shots at dancemoox before he put me out of my misery.

Fun session, especially the first sneaky mission. Anyone know what the music at the start of that was?

On second thoughts maybe I misread the stats screen and Dabbo killed me.

I do. Haven't listened to a good ambient album in a while, maybe this will be it!

I must be honest, I did not participate in any ass kicking, I was the very first casualty right before the road crossing :(
