[Sun] 17 Aug 2014 (Run for it!)

Post by Ferrard Carson »

Missions:
  • Overrun
  • Precious Cargo
  • Clearance Sale
  • Holy Stones
After-Party:
  • Raidolo
  • Raidolo Redux
A fantastic 42 comrades crawled out of the woodwork to take the war to Altis! Between the lot of them, we were crushed under CSAT treads, blown up by a sneaky, flanking Delta, led on a strange, round-about "charge" by Lietuvis, and then shown the infinite displeasure of the almighty Zeus himself!

That's right - we revisited the doomed town of Frini to be ground to dust by AAF and CSAT infantry in Overrun. Miller must have betrayed us, for the last of us was escaping to freedom when a CSAT IFV swooped down out of the black and turned his brains into paste!

A return to a hotly contest mountain pass saw an AAF convoy escorting Precious Cargo sweep FIA off the map almost effortlessly. Under IFV cover, AAF rolled up in the shadow of the hill and caught FIA with a textbook close assault, flanking them at point-blank range and wiping out the FIA infantry to a T. When the IFV and trucks pushed up, though, FIA MAT survivor Delta snuck up behind and blew up Iguana 1, then personally executed Audiox, the AAF CO. Delta's sneakiness was not enough though, and AAF pulled an “easy” victory.

Clearance Sale saw the FA platoon alert CSAT to its presence, then smash itself into a brick wall (or enemy-controlled ridge). That's right, CSAT rapid-reaction forces are laser-equipped badasses that will mess you up six ways to Saturday if you let them get position on you!

Finally, Comrade Lietuvis charged into the Shrine of the Holy Stones, shooting his teammate in the back in cold blood and then detonating the shrine he was supposed to capture.

ZEUS WAS MOST DISPLEASED.

Thankfully, we slaked his displeasure by killing one another over low-grade hallucinogens. Two rounds of Raidolo saw the defending gang crushed under the iron boot of the law like a Missouri protest!

As ever, please post your thoughts, feedback, screenshots and video here - comrade YouTube Hero SuperU doesn't just produce our video idents, but provides leadership and guidance to propaganda artists. We also have a new YouTube channel that he manages so if you have any content you think should feature then let him know and he will sort you out, for more info check out this thread!; more guidance on video editing for Folk ARPS is provided by yours truly. Posts in the AAR threads really help us (the hosts and mission makers), both with understanding how we can improve the experiences, and showing potential comrades what our sessions are like.

As always thanks for the games :), always a pleasure!

Overrun
B2?? - AAR, Blip (FTL), Pacifico? (AR), Snake (RAT)
In this mission our fireteam was tasked with overwatching our initial spawn, it was long after the start we saw several enemy forces moving in from our sector, we kept eliminating the close ones and it was clear they were initially flanking us far. I went to checkout our close flank and saw a few contacts a mere 20m away! I was able to eliminate them and unforunately Blip and Snake died during this time. Pacifico and I did our best to hold the flank but with just the two of us and the enemy getting closer we fell back and continued to engage enemies, during this time Pacifico and myself were both killed from shots to our rear. Unfortunately it appears Wraithz killed us both.

Precious Cargo
FIA Ambushers - A2 - FTL, Haka (AR) , Head (AAR), Nixy (Engineer)
Supply and logistics in their infinite wisdom decided we would be better suited with an engineer. Our squad was placed on a hill overlooking the road and valley. During our setup we witnessed one of the engineers walk over a mine next to a tree killing himself. Our fireteam was much further back from the rest the squad when they came into contact, we moved up to support them but unfortunately the armed strider eliminated Head and Nixy. A1 and ASL were taking multiple casualties. Eventually only Haka and I remained and we setup a defensive position, Haka was able to kill at least two enemies and I shot one too. I managed to pick up a loaded AT launcher from the AAF forces and I was moving to position myself to engage and the convoy but I had over estimated and was promptly eliminated. Pretty fun but does feel heavily slated against FIA.

Clearance Sale
A1 - FTL, Qazi (AR), Konfus (AAR), Croc (RAT)
Right from the get-go this was an awesome fireteam. We had a hivemind going with formations already falling into place the way I wanted before even asking for it :D. We had a great time doing a lot of bounding watch with A2. We met several contacts on the outskirts of the main town, we managed to kill several and push up. Though we started to take overwhelming fire from a heavily vegetated part and we had no choice but to fall back we popped smoke and retreated south doing our best to find cover and suppress the enemy. Our fireteam founds itself being rather grateful that there is a ditch and mound in front of those that we used for stamina break. Alpha squad approach the main hill and we were tasked with clearing the city by going around the hill. I was given command of Alpha as the CO had perished. I managed to sprint with my fireteam and rush the next compound along when we reached the compound we were under accurate fire from at least a fireteam sized element on the hill. I called it back in to the CO and we gave our best, but it was simply just not enough. Awesome fireteam fellas!

Ladies, gentlemen, germs! (Like I said yesterday, I am aware that a non-zero number of you are actually physical embodiments of the ebola virus sent to infect us all)

I bring you glorious video!

First, a glance at what effective assaulting and less-than-effective rear security looks like:

Then a Public Service Announcement: Do Not Piss Off Zeus!
