First of, let me say that this was my second V+ session. I really enjoyed it, as it seems that coms are much clearer which makes things more enjoyable. I will be joining as often as I can.
( I do hope this has positive reaction, I was the reason for several friendly fires....)
Crash Site
I took up Blufor Alpha 1 FTL position with Lazer, Dvl and Zenzos under my "command". After planning our pilot realized that his collective stick broke of, so I volunteered to fly that tub of an Mi-8. Draakon doing a coms check, after which we realized that I somehow joined command element (Oh Arma you and your scroll menu thingy...)
Anyway we marched from our LZ into a forest doing some scouting here, some there and... BOOM! I got killed by Opfor who apperantly had us in their sights for some time...
Raid on Corazol
I don't remember anything, except for dying....
Random Engagements
FTL'ing Blufor Alpha 1 since Danny's connection ran out of juice, had to restart the server as we couldn't deploy. So before we deployed we had a master-plan worked out.....On GLOBAL!
Since Opfor had the dignity to tell us, we scrambled up a new plan, which kinda worked out. Or not. We scouted the whole compound, only to find out Opfor had stormed our MMG's position (which we didn't change), It reminded me kinda of "Saving private Ryan". So when we approached enemy lines our SL gave us weapons free, not a second to early, still babbeling "A1 copies" I saw a moving bush... had I not left my trusty rifle on semi, the whole thing would have been different.
No Pardon
Easily the best mission I played that evening, and one of the best I enjoyed with Folk ARPS.
I hopped in AT position for Alpha 2 under Lazer, which I felt was quite a good choice. As we landed on the "secure" beachhead, our Helo came under attack by some heavy MG. We moved into the Forest toward our first objective, calling out contact reports and taking pot-shots at the enemy swarming A1. We asked the Wildcat for some CAS to take out a Technical, but oh boy, they weren't even scared. So Lazer directet Spitnam to open up with his AR and that did the trick. Shortly after, Lazer got shot, Spitnam took over.
Moving into town Draakon joined our squad. On our way to the next encampment, we encountered an BRDM. As it did not move DVL got promoted to check it out.
Being the AT, and everybody being a bit jumpy about "don't send your AT" and stuff I prepared my Launcher.... and then it happend! In the darkness I saw a body fall and everybody goes "Oooh!!"... so I pulled the trigger. I felt bad. In fact I dropped my now useless AT as I felt so bad. Lucky Dvl got out alive!
I recall Spitnam saying to me:
We all make mistakes, just none as grave as this one! I should be executed
Bounding into the next camp, We had our second friendly fire incident, with command reminding us to spare our bullets for the enemy. Spitnam and I managed to get some sweet CQB'ing on the last house (mainly him saving my life)...
We moved on to the Airfield where a Tank (T-34?) waited for us. no problem though since A1 still had AT...
Clearing out the Airfield, Draakon hopped into a AA-Gun and shot 'em pirates to pieces!
By now I was in command of A2, since Spitnam got killed near the Airfield (I swear, no friendly fire this time!). We moved onto a ridge to our next objective, But got swarmed by some pissed of pirates for killing their leade, before we could reach high ground. Desperatly trying to save my Comrades I got shot myself and it was over.
I recall Draakon asking for
"Permission to withdraw! This is death hill!" but command element was already taken out.... one by one, A2 got killed with Dvl being the last to die.
On a side note Dvl has to get a medal, or two. You seem to have developed the habit of not dying.
*Edit:
Hail Marry...
It was the very definiton of Broken Arrow. Again Spitnam and I tried to face hordes of angry mobs... when I got shot to bits, crawling while leaving a blood trail behind me, I realized Sptinam was dead. The only save place being in the middle bunker, where some Comrades huddled together, while bullets whizzed by and the screaching of tank tracks not far of, we slowly exceptet the fact that we where all going to die...
It was pure tragedy.
