(Ins)Urgent: Folk ARPS Insurgency server

What is Insurgency?
Imagine ARMA, Red Orchestra 2 and CS:GO getting together one night and getting really drunk. Then 9 months later there's a baby and no one really knows who's responsible but for some weird reason it has something in common with all three of them. Ignoring the terrible metaphor, that's pretty much what Insurgency is. A tense battle of usually squad-sized teams and also an excellent players vs. AI coop experience.

How do I connect to the server?
Filtering for Folk ARPS should do the trick. The password is the usual one.

The server is not appearing. Is this the end of the world? Have we been infiltrated by saboteurs?
Relax comrade, chances are the server is either down or not up-to-date. Messaging one of the hosts should resolve the issue swiftly.

Okay I'm on the box, what should I do?
Shoot and die? By default the server runs a COOP and SURVIVAL rotation with lotsa bad guys.

I don't like these settings/the map/whatever. You are terrible people.
If you think you can do better, feel free to message a host with suggestions for the server.cfg. If you use our Insurgency server a lot we can also provide you with the rcon password to become the in-game admin.

Wolf, why don't you bring down the insane numbers of enemies?

And then we could get a game together on Fridays or Saturdays.

These are the current values, I'm open for suggestions:
"mp_coop_min_bots" "8" // number of bots when there is 1 player on the server
"mp_coop_max_bots" "32" // number of bots when there are 8 players on the server
"mp_coop_min_bot_difficulty" "2" // bot difficulty towards the beginning of the mission
"mp_coop_max_bot_difficulty" "3" // bot difficulty towards the end of the mission

Well there are no SPG's there yet :P

But.. player number is one thing.. the other would be some additional game modes or maps? If they are available in vanilla or in the workshop then that shouldn't be that hard.
Anyway, for purposes of actually completing a mission, can we reduce the number to... let's say 20? And we'll see how it goes from there.

6/24 for now, I think we had it at 20 before and it was a bit too easy.

As for workshop missions: there aren't many coop missions on the workshop and if a player who doesn't have them connects to the server they'll face a painfully slow download. Otherwise all missions can be started in by an admin, no matter the workshop.

Oh, well I thought about the ones in rotation, where people vote for them...
because currently there are only 2 game modes, so really my question is.. aren't there more game modes?

Plenty of game modes, all but survival and checkpoints are adversarial.

We played a few rounds with 6/24 yesterday and 8 players yesterday. Seemed to be quite doable. I'll tone down the # of survival bots though.

Insurgency is 50% off on Steam, and I'm sure several FA members still have spare copies from the past humble bundle deal lying around.
