[Sun] 31 Aug 2014 (Welcome to Bravo Channel)

Post by Ferrard Carson »

Missions:
  • Holy Stones
  • Old Man Mountain
  • Citadel
  • Self Service
  • Knock Knock
After-Party:
  • Drugs! Drugs! Drugs!
  • Karts! Karts! Karts!
A beautiful 35 comrades emerged into the dusky dusk of nighttime to assemble in peaceful protest (with guns).

Before I recap our activities, I would like to take a moment to say a great big "Thank You!" to the fine folk who stepped up to leadership positions readily and quickly - you guys are awesome!

Onwards to the session, where we began with an internecine fight over who has the balls! SuperU's Aziz reigned supreme once more in Holy Stones! One of his militiamen dove into the bunker from the start, and though an Azoz-ite clambered in and sat himself down on the other side of an interior partition, Zeus saw Aziz's man first, and declared his eternal blessing on the Southern Warlord.

Then we moved to Audiox's new mission Old Man Mountain, aptly named in Tigershark's honor! Our glorious commander Raptoer sent Alpha Squad up the Eastern Ridge to assault the hilltop and Bravo Squad up the Western Ridge to provide covering fire! Ten minutes later, as members of Alpha entered Valhalla via 5.56mm holes, they found the entirety of Bravo Squad holding court in Limbo. "Welcome to Bravo Channel!" all the dead people said, "What took you so long?"

Draakon led our mechanized troops to glorious victory in Fer's classic Citadel - a close assault by Bravo from the east drew attention away from Alpha's surge from the south, with IFVs murderizing anyone who tried to stop our inexorable steamroller. In the end, over half the infantry had survived, and both IFVs still trundled along all non-exploded like.

This, of course, could not be allowed to pass. We cannot miss our death quotas, so we turned our guns on one another in Wolfenswan's Self Service, or as the title screen calls it, "INSERT MISSION TITLE HERE"! Our two warring sides set to work against one another, beginning with a titanic clash of the two Special Needs Charlie Squads. CSAT's derpitude was magnitudes greater than AAF's, and CSAT's Charlie set the tone by wiping out all of their AAF counterparts. The rest of OpFor followed suit, and the remnants of AAF's garrison were gearing themselves up for the final defense when a rogue trigger fired and everyone was greeted with the announcement of Glorious ENDING #3!

Comrade Bodge's roused us from our sleep to suddenly catapult us into a gauntlet of Zafirs and tracer-y death in his newly updated Knock Knock. Comrade Diver SuperU managed to make it to a boat, and was on his way back to pick up Comrades Fer, IceRaiser, Bryan, and Terminal Boy when he serpentined his boat right into a burst of MMG fire. The brave diver slumped over at the wheel, throwing the boat into a hard left turn. To this day, a rogue, blood-speckled speedboat performs eternal waterborne donuts in Pyrgos Harbor, a testament to how close we were to safety. The remaining survivors charged in grief, pistols blazing until the last rifle rounds silenced their wails of tragedy... forever.

At this point, it was determined by the host team that there was a disturbing paucity of drugs in this session. As a result, RAIDOLO! After a successful curbstomp by police (during which time they also eliminated corrupt elements from within the force), the drug-addled survivors climbed into their karts and performed a race demolition derby on the streets of Kavala!

=====

Another big ol' thank you to everyone who came along! Folk ARPS welcomes you with open arms, you brave farmer who barely knows which end of the gun should point towards the enemy! (it's that one, by the way) We hope you'll stay, we hope you'll write down your thoughts and feedback and share your compromising pictures and video in this thread so that the Politburo knows who gets gulag time tonight!

A special note to those amongst us who would like to command, but want a little more peace and quiet to plan than the party-mandated minutes of silence: We hosts will occasionally run our Folk ARPS Senior Leadership Program(me)! That's right, it's no longer the Senior Leadership Pogrom. Now we pay you to take leadership slots! In appreciation!

Have thoughts? Stories? Screenshots? Video? Centerfold pictures of Comrade Tigershark? Share them here in this thread! Have video you don't know what to do with? I've said a few (possibly helpful) words here! Want to be featured on the Folk ARPS YouTube channel? Look no further than Comrade SuperU!

I'm looking forward to what everyone has to say and show - from myself, be on the lookout for some beautiful YouTube moments coming to a channel near you!

First of all, thanks to everyone for making last night's session so enjoyable! This was probably my favourite one yet.
I took a few recordings of my experiences, this one being the first (Old Man Mountain). It's a good job I'm used to dealing with loss in these sessions as my squad has a nasty tendency to get dead. Apologies in advance for the awful pun made with the title and the thumbnail...

CSAT's derpitude was magnitudes greater than AAF's..
It was 100% my fault as I was:

1. Expecting the enemy to appear by the white farm building lower down the slope and had set my rifle to semi to give more accuracy.

2. Busy examining a cache of TigerShark's transexual porn and not paying full attention to Homercleese.

3. Sitting behind a rock with my thumb up my bum and my brain in neutral.

At first, with my usual utter inability to tell two camo patterns apart, I thought the first enemy I saw was Homercleese repositioning for a better field of fire. And then 3 more bodies appeared and the idea that opening fire might be a good thing to do. Of course, semi wasn't the best option for this and the return fire was instantaneously fatal...

I for one welcome our new creepy-uncle-you-try-not-to-talk-to-at-family-reunions overlord.

You are in a small, non-descript room lit by a single bare bulb. The walls and floor are smooth grey concrete, marred only by a drain in the center of the room, heavily rusted. A table and chair sit on the northern wall of the room. There is a video terminal atop the table with two buttons. An imposing steel door bars exit to the south.

> s
The way is blocked by a heavy steel door. It does not move when you try to open it.

> x door s
This is an imposing steel door. There are no hinges or lock mechanisms that you can see. It must lock and unlock from the outside.

> sit in chair
You seat yourself in the nearby chair.

> x terminal
This is a dilapidated computer terminal with two buttons marked "A" and "B"

> press button A

> laugh
I'm sorry, The Party does not recognize that command.

> press button B

That was a realy enjoyable and successfull evening... successfull cuz i didnt die as much as i do normally do :D

Holy Stones
Aziz'(SuperU) personal physician

After my glorious leader got the fireteams distributed to their respective orders, we sat in a building southeast of the objective to let them come... and they came!
Fight was short and intense, with Aziz carrying home the colours of victory.

Old Man Mountain
FTL Alpha 3 under SL SuperU(i think he was...)

Had some difficulties with stamina, since my FT was on the outer circle of the flanking maneuver in the beginning, which led up to us being behind the other FTs, tho we managed to catch up later.
After the SL assessed the situation on the mountain, he sent A1 and A2 up the hill to clear, with us stayin behind providing covering fire. From that point things escalated a bit and the grail of command was passed down the chain pretty fast. When it was my turn, there was not much left to command, and while i still was trying to find out how many men didn't allready counted additional holes in their skin, the mission ended with a failure message for us with a glorious victory for the Party (departement FIA)

Citadel
IFV 1 commader under CO Draakon

This mission played realy well from my standpoint. The comrades blip32(gunner) and Sam(driver) did a great job in driving where the enemy is and blowing them to lotsa tiny pieces.
Bravo squad got deployed on without any roadkills, also a great success when playing with vehicles. Clearing the town (and the approach to it) went smooth as a billiard ball, i dont think that we took any fire at all.
Good leading, CO, i liked it a lot.

Self Service
CSAT CO

My personal highlight this evening.

The plan was pretty straight-forward, Alpha squad under commrade Kendit with 2 FTs as the main assault force to the storage facility taking advantage of the town as approach cover, MMG and a 3man FT Charlie taking the high ground providing cover and additional menpower if needed. IceRaisers reply in the briefing (commrade Ferrard Carsons first video at 0:17) still makes me giggle like a little schoolgirl

Game went live, and all elements got into their form up positions pretty quick. Charlie + MMG where realy on their tiptoes gaining not only "First Blood" but a "Squad Wipe" ribbon, as they disassembled the not-so-special-forces from AAF in the mountains. Awesome work, gents!
While Charlie was still confirming their killstreak, the Alpha squad breeched the compund, meeting quite low resistance... if that was due to the fact of a out-of-nowhere artillery strike inside the AO is discussed, but highly doubted. Soon i gave the word to Charlie to reinforce the assault, commrade AudioX brought his gunner in position, reciting the famous support squad verse:
Roses are red
Violetts are blue
I will lay down
suppressive fire on you!

At the point of Charlies arrival, the condition of outweighting the enemy for 2min was fullfilled, leaving CSAT with just one victim to enemy fire... our new protegee from 1TAC, commrade Snake, didn't make it.
We'll never forget your sacrifice, commrade.

Thanks to evryone in leading positions on this mission, you guys carried out evrything according to plan. Outstanding work!

Knock Knock
Alpha SL under CO Kendit

Not much to see here, got killed very fast... turned on tags on the spectator screen and HOLY SHIT there was a metric fuckton of enemies! I did enjoy tho, spectating the last stand of the commrades Fer and IceRaiser was quite entertaining :D

RAIDOLO
UAV Operator

Herpaderpderp, aaaaaaaaaaaaaand it was over

That was a great session, gentlemen! Thx to the host, thx to the participants.
Will come again.
Yes, you can view this scentence as a threat :P

Old Man Mountain
Bravo 3 AT

After getting up on the hill at Bravo's BOF and then taking a lot of fire (that's what base of fire means right?) from the hills. I fell back a bit to the South, typically there were promptly then screams of ohgodthereisastridercomingupthehilltothenortheast. I started moving to take it out and while flanking to the east ran into another Strider trying to sneak up behind people. It got within about 50m before I turned it into a big ball of flames (and scared the shit out of most of Bravo). I then spent the rest of the time running around the BOF looking for the bodies of the other two Bravo AT's ammo (or an enemy AT) until getting shot by the original Strider...

Citadel
IFV 1 Gunner

I shot all of the enemies. Including an enemy AT that appear sneakily behind us (also standing about 50 meters from Alpha).

Self Service
AAF Special Needs Dept. with special responsibilities for using an Automatic rifle poorly

We guessed where the enemy would be, saw them coming first, moved vaguely in that direction in and then died. Bones sneaked up behind me and took a shot in the foot before shooting me in the face point-blank...

Knock Knock
Sniper

Spawned with a lovely rifle (no ammo thank you very much) and a pistol. Proceeded to run towards the shore, spotted lots of enemies (this was the point I realised I had no ammo) and fell back into cover. Watched the CO run past me into the enemy fire I had just attracted and then stole the SMG from his bullet riddled corpse. Managed to duck and weave a couple of hundred meters between buildings by myself along the coast trying to link up with the other squads but died in a hail of crossfire from three directions in the last 50m.

Raidolo
Victim

*sigh*
