Re: [Sun] 01 Nov 2015 (Unacceptably Good)
I had loads of fun this evening, so great to see lots of people showing up. Missed the first mission, so let's jump straight into
Citadel -Bravo Vic commander with gunner OneRaven and driver Boberro
I do enjoy this mission, even when I'm not in a fully fledged tank, and am instead confined to the crappy commander turret of the marid (seriously, it is SO BAD). But Bravo vic fought through this and got some totally sweet overwatch on the town, wherein we proceeded to blow away 50cals and lone infantryman with extreme prejudice. Much kudos to the infantry for taking out the static titans and allowing us to rain down our 12.7mm wrath, before we charged (perhaps irresponsibly) into the town for some CQC support. As it turned out, the enemy were mostly defeated by that point and we were victorious.
Hedgehogs B1 FTL with Costno, Mabbot, Mdeath, DarkChozo and Grumpy
This one was an absolute blast, and everyone did a sterling job. We bounded across hedgerows, engaged targets at range, had some really hairy close contacts with baddies in tree -filled gullies (I do love it so when a grenade barrage sounds like GMG) and moved up under heavy enemy fire. Some really great fire and maneuver, some really great firefights at long and short range, it was brilliant.
In the end, we lost Mabbot to bullets and Mdeath to meatspace but we took an airfield. It was pretty fucking ninja.
Cloudline ASL with Major effort
Setting off to some sweet tunes, we sneaky-beaked our way up to the western edge of the compound, before letting off the mother of all grenade barrages. It was a thing of beauty. We then proceeded to charge in and kick the crap out of the garrison. In short order, the barracks were being stormed and I decided to have a sneaky peak onto the roof, and was promptly friendly fired. I suppose that's what you get for failing to inform the other squads properly.
Rebel Alliance Part 5 B1 FTL with... people. I remember Boberro and FrozenLiquidity were my RATs, sorry peeps! Major Effort joined us as a medic too.
A good old ambush mission. We snuck around on a hill, skulked in a house for a bit and then skuled in a construction site as the convoy rolled past. Alpha hit it, we rolled in, Boberro took a masterful shot on some enemy armour (which turned out to be the repair truck) and as we shot all the dudes around the trucks, I started shooting GPs, not realising that what I thought was a troop truck full of mans was, in fact, the second objective truck. Boberro followed my enthusiasm and sent a second rocket slamming into the side of it. With the convoy successfully destroyed (ahem, I don't know what you're talking about) we ran off to CO's truck and drove into the hills. And thus, were completely, and utterly, successful
Afterparty
I blew up eagle-eyes chopper with rockets in mid air. I got quite excited. And then ran around shooting people in the back with a zubr . Twas a good end.

Too good to wait for the full AAR

I got a few pretty screenshots while chilling about with Juliet on Citadel.
Re: [Sun] 01 Nov 2015 (Unacceptably Good)
It wasn't just a marsterful shot. It was 250 meters lob over a building which is why I didn't really see what I'm hitting (only part of the top) and why I was so happy about it.madrak_the_red wrote:Boberro took a masterful shot on some enemy armour
Delete this marker please. You're scaring the tank.

Crateresistance
Charlie 1 FTL with Pickers (AR), Kasmeister (AR), Grumpy (RAT), Fer (R) and Goldmonger (R)
The plan here was simple - get to point Pinto and overlook cache 2, hoping they wouldn't attack cache 3 because that'd drop them right behind us. The ARs would go down the valley to point Ford and have line of sight on the cache and cover while the more mobile riflemen had the mountaintop positions.
Slight problem - you couldn't see the cache from Ford and the enemy halo dropped in so fast we weren't properly in position. So the ARs hoofed it back up to Pinto, we all got spotted and while they couldn't range us with UGLs, we couldn't range them either and they had better cover than us. In hindsight I should have pushed the ARs up to Ferrari along with red team, but we may have been too badly hosed by then - only myself and one of red team made it there anyway and we both got hosed by a bounding fireteam.
So then we sat around watching CSAT go through some truly epic friendly fire incidents triggered by eagle_eye and others managing to walk right into an enemy fireteam without either side realising what had happened
Citadel
Bravo 1 AR with Soup (FTL), Edward (AR), Cardova (RAT), ZeCatnip (R) and Hikkimori (R)
One of the more scenic missions this. Makes me wish I had a graphics card that could cope with it
And of course, the ritual sacrifice and offering of an AI at the end just to spice things up a notch...
Hedgehogs
Alpha 1 FTL with ZeCatnip (AR), Major Effort (AR), Kasmeister (RAT), Edward (R) and Jacob (R)
I expected lots of running over flat open terrain getting massacred by lots of enemy fire. Somehow that didn't happen. We bounded up with A2, took roadblocks and other base of fire points, killed contacts at long range, and were about to attack the airfield when this happened:
...and yet somehow we survived (and killed the helo, which must have had one of the more surprised crews of all time - flying low over two full fireteams and in line of sight of two others was probably not a great move). And went on to take the airfield. And not one casualty in either A2 or A1 (we did lose Edward to a disconnect, but that doesn't count as enemy action yet).
And I killed a jet...
Cloudline
Well, that was a pretty shock-and-awesome opening. Shame we were friendly-firing each other by the end
Rebel Alliance Part 5
MAT spotter with Fer (gunner)
So we spent a while debating the best points to see stuff in the briefing screen, then spawned and realised all the points were horrible rubbish. We spent five or six minutes trying to get into a position that at least gave us a little sliver of a view of the road, but no joy, then just managed to see the convoy incoming. Alpha and Bravo killed the convoy, the escort, and two of the vehicles we were supposed to be stealing. MAT managed to get to the road just in time to see Alpha leg it in one of the trucks as the QRF showed up in a helo. We tried to shoot at it but PCML apparently stands for Particularly Crappily Made Launcher and we couldn't get a lock on it even as it was landed, so we hopped back in the truck with CO and legged it out of the AO without firing a shot.
Still. Nice day out, got some fresh air...
AFTERPARTY
Helicopters
RIGHT. OF. WAY. PEOPLE!
This time I thought I'd be sneaky-sneaky... in my neon blue glowing helicopter. And oddly, it worked reasonably well. But 3-v-1 at the end was a bit unsurvivable for the 1

I hate the action menu...

Of all the gratuitous hails of explosives that we've delivered in our weekly campaigning, this was without a doubt the loudest and most beautiful.
And maybe the only one that was actually effective! Thank you, Madrak, for letting us off the leash on that insanity. Alpha two ALWAYS BEST ALPHA
