[Sun] 26 March 2017 (Ablative Riflemen)

Post by Freyja »

Thank you to the 23 friends what went and joined us for our bi-weekly ARMA adventures. One of these years the helicopter noise bug will no longer be among us, and I will be the first to dance on its grave.

Runlist: Remember to check out our lovely audio-visual information registry over at this here place!

Oh oh and also there's them there patches PATCHES patches. Orders can only be placed for a period of time that is incredibly indeterminate. There's probably only like a dozen of them left at this point (they were surprisingly not much more expensive if you got more.)

Nice intense session. Commanders did their job really well. I lived longer than usual, which gave my comrades the chance to shoot me instead. (So the AI killed me less than usual, which is nice, I guess)

Infantry Fighting Vehicles went unexpectedly well. After realizing we didn't have any charges left, OneRaven commanded me to destroy the last IFV with my RPG-42 and completing the mission. One rocket, 50 meters and the fear of missing :psyboom:

Off the rails made us jump the rails. After our first tactical retreat we were able to achieve at least a partial success. I remember smoke, lots of smoke.

In uncivil engineering, the three policemen were entering the building I lurked in. I heard footsteps, turned around and got Ajax. Unfortunately there were two more to go, grasping my AK I tried to hit the other two, shooting magazine after magazine. Finally comrade Zitron ended my firefight (and asked questions about enemies later) :commissar:

We didn't play bees in a long time. We took an approach I didn't know until today. However at the end when rescuing Netkev our transport helicopter has nearly been hit by a black smudge of some kind. Take a look at exhibit A, maybe you can identify it:

Strumpie showed us 0m above the ground is still high enough to not crash and catch some fish. I really liked the end with the A10 escorting us to our base. I hope we can see more of that in the future.

In HSLD I've been brutally murdered involved in an accident with Teifiterror. He's definitely been waiting to accident me for quite some time. Please take a look at exhibit B:

First session for me since the summer of 2016;). Decided to kick it off as CO of the first mission, Infantry Fighting Vehicles. I was feeling a bit rusty, but it actually went really well. Also i am now finally able to play coop missions with playable framerate. We were moving a bit slow in my opinion, but it ended up okay since the fuel arrived just as we were finishing off the last IFV. I saved up my HE 40mms just for them. Credit for the second phase of the mission goes to SLs, at that point i was just running around with no ammo telling them to hurry up for no reason.

I ashamed myself on the second mission by becoming the second casualty after GeEom IIRC. What's worse is that i was the alpha SL. That being said i very much enjoyed watching half of alpha getting killed.

On my last mission of the night(Beer Run), and the first adversarial i decided to jump into the boots of a common rifleman. We managed to get to the care package drop before the other team and hunkered down. The plan was to throw a lot of smokes just as the crate dropped. I was going to help with carrying the beer, but i noticed almost noone was keeping overwatch on the enemy, who is probably already aiming at us, so i took a concealed position (Become the bush ~Ajax) and started firing. In order to not slow down my teammates and to not show my position i just told them that i'll sacrifice myself and keep the enemies off the crate as long as i can. Fortunately i haven't been spotted until the very end and i believe not a single enemy got into the proximity of the beer.

Thank fuck Stonie caught that missile on proverbial tape, that thing took up most my screen as it was blazing past me at one point whilst jogging towards the extract. I am simultaneously relieved and disappointed I didn't get sniped by a 2km AA missile shot.

And off the rails had one of our only instances of a retreat being not only used but actually successfully employed, which is just incredible considering we are us.

Kas' command went mostly fine in IFVs, the only possible complaint is that he should probably have pushed the SLs harder. But having not been on CC for that mission I of course don't have much of a leg to stand on as per that assessment.

Would just like to offer my defence for the alleged yet relatively obvious friendly fire incident:

He was bleeding out and as I didn't have a medic or first aid kit I felt it was the kindest option at the time so the evil bad people couldn't torture him.

Great session last night, definitely enjoyed all the missions but I do particularly like bees for its multiple attack options.

If you watch the r3 replay both you and I went on murderous rampages. http://server.folkarps.com/r3/share/24 . Sadly FIA were too slow, partially because of a delay dropping off A2. AAF were swarming all over the crate by the time FIA even got there.

That was the plan :). Our SL, Teifiterror IIRC (sorry if i mistaken you for someone else) drove the truck as fast as possible with the shortest route and didnt stop until we were on the objective.

Also, i had no idea we could have such replays, thats absolutely awesome! Do we have one for every mission played?

We gained them a few weeks ago.
